Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
Kakooo is a writing app. Your writing is yours, and this page explains what Kakooo does with the data it needs to work. It describes what the app does today; we update it before any change to what we collect.
The short version
- We store your writing, and the account details Google gives us, so the app can sync and share.
- We count anonymous visits and feature use. We never include your writing in those counts, and you can turn the counting off.
- No ads, no selling your data, no tracking cookies, and your writing is not sent to any AI service.
- You can delete documents yourself. To delete your whole account, email us.
Kakooo is in beta. While in beta, paid checkout runs in the payment provider’s test mode, so no real charge is made. This paragraph is removed when real payments begin, and this policy is updated first.
1. Who is responsible
Kakooo is run by Amri Shodiq, an individual based in Indonesia, who decides how the data described here is used (the “data controller”). Contact: kakooo.support@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
If you only try the editor without signing in
Your text stays in your browser on your own device. It is not sent to our servers. It moves to your account only if you later sign in, and only then.
Your account
You sign in with Google. Google gives us your name, email address, profile photo, and a unique account ID. We store your name and email in your user record. We do not see your Google password.
Your writing
- Documents: title, text, your Goal, Parked ideas, the template you chose, which parts were marked as AI-written, and the time of the last change.
- Version history you save, and diagrams you draw in the diagram editor.
- Deleting a document also deletes its comments and saved versions.
Sharing, comments, and publishing
- When you share a document, we store a share link token. If you protect it with a PIN, we store only a scrambled (hashed) form of the PIN, plus a counter of wrong attempts. We cannot read your PIN.
- When someone comments through a share link, we store their Google account ID, name, profile photo link, and comment text with the document. The document owner sees them. On a link without a PIN, they may also be visible to others who open the same link.
- If you publish a document to the web, its content, your username, and your Google name (or your @username if you have no name) are visible to anyone on the internet, including search engines. Choose a username you are comfortable showing.
- If you enter a PIN to open a shared document, your browser remembers that PIN on your device so you do not have to retype it.
Feedback
If you send feedback from the app (only signed-in users can), we store your message, the type you chose (bug, idea, or other), the time, and your Google account’s email address and account ID, so we can reply. There is also an optional “Contact” box: whatever you type there (for example another email address or a social handle) is stored with the feedback, and we use it only to reply to you. If you leave “Include technical details” ticked, we also receive the app language, your browser language and type, your screen size, the screen you were on, and the app version. Feedback never includes your writing. Only we can read it; it is not published.
Payments
Pro subscriptions are handled by Paddle, which sells to you and collects your payment details itself. We never see your card number. When you open checkout, we pass your email and account ID to Paddle. Paddle sends us back your subscription status, plan, the end of the paid period, and Paddle’s customer and subscription IDs, which we store to unlock Pro features.
Anonymous usage counts
To learn what to improve, Kakooo counts visits and feature use. This is our own code; there is no Google Analytics or any other analytics company. Per browser it stores:
- A random ID generated in your browser. It is not your name, email, or device ID.
- The days you were active (up to the last 90), your browser language, and the language chosen in the app.
- The IDs of the templates you used.
- Yes/no marks for: tried the editor, wrote something, clicked Sign in, signed in, clicked Upgrade, opened checkout, completed checkout.
- After you sign in, your account ID is attached to that record, so we can tell signed-in people from visitors.
It never includes your writing, titles, Goals, Parked ideas, comments, or email address, and Kakooo does not store your IP address. Like any website, the network that serves the request (Google) can see it.
Turning it off: use “Turn off” on the sign-in screen. Counting also stays off if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, in the desktop app, and when your browser cannot store settings. Turning it off removes the random ID from your browser and stops new counts. Records already sent are not deleted automatically; email us and we will remove yours.
On your device
Kakooo uses your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB, not advertising or tracking cookies. It keeps there: your signed-in session, a local copy of your documents so they open fast and survive going offline, your theme, language, and editor settings, the try-it document, remembered share PINs, and the random usage ID above. You can clear all of it in your browser settings.
Website
The home page loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when you open it. This page and the app itself do not use Google Fonts. Our servers run on Google Firebase; like any host, it keeps technical logs of requests (such as IP address and browser type). We do not put your writing in logs on purpose.
3. How we use it
- To run Kakooo: sign you in, save and sync your writing, share, comment, publish, and show your version history.
- To protect it: limit PIN guessing and abuse.
- To give you Pro features after a payment.
- To understand roughly how Kakooo is used, through the anonymous counts above.
- To read your feedback and, if needed, reply at your account email or the contact you gave.
We do not use your writing to train AI models, we do not send it to AI services, and we do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
4. Who else handles your data
- Google (Firebase) runs sign-in, the database, hosting, and server functions for us. Google’s own privacy policy applies to your Google account.
- Paddle handles payments and taxes. Paddle is responsible for the payment details it collects, under its own policy.
- People you share with can read what you share. Anything you publish is public.
- We may disclose data if the law requires it.
5. Where it is kept, and for how long
Your documents, comments, versions, feedback, and usage counts are stored in Google Firestore in Jakarta, Indonesia. Google Firebase Authentication and Hosting are global services, so some data (your account, and website requests) is processed outside Indonesia, and Paddle works internationally.
We keep your data until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. We have not set an automatic deletion schedule for anonymous usage counts or feedback yet.
6. Your choices and rights
You can read, change, and delete your documents in the app. You can also ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a purpose, and withdraw consent you gave. Depending on where you live, you may have these rights by law (for example under Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law, or the GDPR in Europe and the UK), and you may complain to your local data protection authority.
Deleting your account: in-app account deletion is not available yet. Email kakooo.support@gmail.com from the email address on your account, and we will delete your account and its data, including feedback you sent, normally within 30 days. If you have an active subscription, we will tell you how to cancel it first. Comments you left on other people’s documents are kept but show as “Deleted user”.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access rules limit your documents to your own account, and share PINs are stored hashed. No service is perfectly secure, so please keep your own backups of work that matters; Kakooo can export your documents to Markdown, PDF, and Word.
8. Age
Kakooo is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a child has an account, tell us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
If what we collect or how we use it changes, we update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
10. Contact
Questions, requests, or concerns: kakooo.support@gmail.com.
